These elephants had just crossed a stream were were moving in single file up a steep bank with the young well protected, as you can see here.

This is part of series of safari images from the Mara Triangle, the northwestern corner of Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. To see others click here.

@Jules: I hope you have the opportunity, Jules. This was the thing that really amazed me about the experience. I never imagined coming this close to the animals. Particularly the lions. They were very, very close to our open-sided land-rover. At first I was nervous. But our guide knew what he was doing.

What an experience... I love elephants, such beautiful animals. It's a travesty for these beauties to be in a circus or any kind of captivity where they are not free. I love your photo with the baby in the middle, such a rich green color in thoses grasses frames the elephants nicely. They look quite healthy! I enjoyed!!
